I highly recommend Kim, with her expertise and vast knowledge of children, counseling, parenting and her experience in the school setting she is the complete package. You will not meet anyone with a bigger heart for kids. Kim is instrumental in helping students grow, develop and become more confident. She is full of creative and fun ways to overcome challenges, not just for children but for adults as well. I can't imagine finding a more well qualified and caring therapist for your child. I would recommend her to anyone whose child could benefit from counseling services.

I have worked professionally with Kim for the last 25 years. Kim sees the strength and resilience in all people, even those who are struggling to find their way and see their own good. She works with her clients to achieve their goals by providing meaningful interventions and insights. Kim is a diligent listener, problem solver, and therapist. Whether Kim is working in schools, agencies, or in private practice, Kim is one of the most trusted, competent, effective, and capable therapists I have encountered in my 30 years of clinical practice.
-Karen, LICSW
Kim has a strong desire to listen and know people’s story, and usually picks up on the one detail mentioned that no one else in the room noticed. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience that can put your mind at ease and give you a sense of confidence when embarking on uncharted ground. Kim has a gift of supporting others, by identifying and building upon one’s strengths and encourages those around her to find joy in everyday moments. I have entrusted my own family with her expertise and knowledge and would recommend her to friends.
-Deanna, Parent
Kim has an amazing ability to connect with kids. In challenging times Kim provides calm and space. What i appreciate most about Kim is how she helps kids build their "toolbox" and empowers kids to listen to their body and advocate for themselves. As a mom and teacher I go to Kim often for perspective and a listening ear.
Katie, Teacher
Kim is truly an empathic and empowering counselor as evidenced by her work in public schools and now in her private practice. Kim’s holistic approach to therapy focuses on young children, teens and adolescents who have experienced or are experiencing trauma, and may be challenged with finding strategies for social emotional regulation, anxiety, depression and grief. Her goal is to break down challenges into manageable parts, so children can better develop resilience, coping strategies, and a sense of self-efficacy.
-Laura, School Psychologist
I have personally witnessed the gift Kim is to the counseling world for over 10 years. I trust her immensely. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for family or individual counseling for their child! You will be so happy working with her.

It has been a joy to serve with Kim in the community through MOPS and other local ministries. She is always looking for ways to help create a more compassionate and connected community. I have been inspired by Kim's passion as a school counselor to see families and children get the support that they need to overcome life’s obstacles. She always finds a way to offer them practical tools that will help them not just survive, but THRIVE!

-Cam, Preschool Teacher
As a teacher and parent I saw firsthand how Kim interacted with children, staff and the community, bringing her expertise in such an inspirational and empowering manner. My son, who is now a senior in high school says, "Mrs. Kauffman helped all of us feel connected, affirmed and validated while modeling empathy and respect.” I know that Thrive Child and Family Counseling has been Kim’s dream for years, and our community is extremely fortunate this dream has come true.
