Yes! I offer a no charge, 15 minute phone meet and greet to answer any questions and discuss a mutual fit for services
I am out of network, so clients pay for sessions directly. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance if you would like to pursue reimbursement.
During our first session we will begin with a set of intake questions that will help me get to know you/your family and your hopes for our time together. I also want to answer any Intakes will be 60-80 min sessions and only include the caregiver(s) and myself.
It is essential for me to have a full understanding of a child’s family, social, cultural, and educational experiences as well as health history in order to effectively work together so I will ask for your partnership in this process.
All sessions other than intakes are 50 minutes. Care is made to end each session with enough time to help your child transition back into their day. Therapy can be hard work, so I am intentional about not continuing to work on something sensitive or difficult that can’t be brought to closure before the session time ends.
We will determine together how often I will meet with your child individually and how often we will meet together. Family participation is essential for successful outcomes. However, family participation can take many forms such as: family therapy sessions, tracking behavior(s), trying different strategies to support your child's therapy work, completing a special task together, and separate caregiver counseling/support.
The frequency and duration of sessions is very individualized. In order to establish rapport and for best results, I prefer weekly sessions as we begin our work together and we will talk when it feels helpful to make adjustments to every other week and eventually monthly sessions.
What is discussed in therapy is confidential between the child/family and therapist and protected by Washington state law. The 3 exceptions to confidentiality include: if someone intends to harm themselves, threatens to harm someone else, or if your child (or another child under the age of 18) is being hurt.
As a parent you have the right to be informed about your child’s therapy. I work in partnership with caregivers and your input is essential. However, when working with young people if they know parents will find out every detail they disclose it can impair the therapeutic process/relationship as well as your hopes for seeking counseling. For this reason, for older youth that I see I may recommend more confidentiality between your child and myself.
If you feel this would be helpful, I believe strongly in the power of teaming with school staff to best support the needs of children. Educators can provide invaluable insight and sharing common language and skills learned in sessions is often very helpful. If you choose and it’s therapeutically appropriate you can sign a Release of Information if you want me to talk to your child’s school, doctor, youth group leader etc.
I primarily meet with clients in person, especially when working with children. I understand coordinating work schedules, childcare needs and health can be tricky sometimes, so telehealth is available for caregiver only sessions.
Individual and family sessions (50 min) are $150, initial intakes (60-80 min) are $180. For established clients, I offer an add on comprehensive school support package for $300. Otherwise time spent on phone calls/mtgs and communication with daycare/school/doctors etc is added up and charged monthly.
Should you have an unavoidable (with the understanding that therapy requires consistency and commitment) need to cancel, I have a 24 hour cancellation grace period without being charged. All no shows are charged the full session fee out of respect for your, my and other client's time.
When I am in session I close the door and put a blind down over the window on door for your privacy. Please note, I do need the short timeframe between sessions to clean and rest so I'm unable to start sessions early. If it is your scheduled time and my blind is up or door is open you are welcome to come in!
Although research indicates COVID can not be passed through items, I do make every effort to clean items used in counseling sessions prior to the next session and ask that clients wash their hands prior to the start of our session. Please do not come into the office if you have any COVID symptoms. As an educator and mental health provider I have been vaccinated.
